Cookie Policy
Last updated: 1 November 2026
Summary: We use strictly necessary cookies to run the site and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand how it is used. We do not sell your data.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember information about your visit — such as your login status or shopping cart — and can also be used to understand how visitors use a site in aggregate.
This policy explains what cookies EKN Marketplace uses, why, and how you can control them. It applies to the website eknmarketplace.co.uk.
2. Our Legal Basis (UK PECR & UK GDPR)
The UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) require us to obtain your consent before placing any cookies on your device that are not strictly necessary for the service you have requested. We comply with PECR and the UK GDPR, which governs how we process any personal data collected via cookies.
3. Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They do not require your consent under PECR. They include:
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
sessionid |
Django session cookie — keeps you logged in and maintains your shopping cart | Session / 2 weeks |
csrftoken |
Django CSRF protection — prevents cross-site request forgery attacks on forms | 1 year |
ekn_cookie_consent |
Stores your cookie consent preference so we don't ask you again | 1 year |
3.2 Analytics Cookies (Consent Required)
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site — for example, which pages are most popular and how people navigate the site. This helps us improve the experience for all users.
Google Analytics sets the following cookies:
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated number as a client identifier | 2 years |
_ga_XXXXXXXXXX |
Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4 | 2 years |
Google Analytics data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy . We have enabled IP anonymisation so your full IP address is never stored. We do not share GA data with any third party other than Google.
3.3 Affiliate & Partner Tracking
When you click a Partner Deal (affiliate) link, you are redirected to a third-party retailer such as Amazon. That retailer may set their own cookies on your device, governed by their own cookie and privacy policies. We have no control over those cookies.
Amazon's cookie policy is available at amazon.co.uk.
3.4 Payment Processing
Our checkout is powered by Stripe. Stripe may set cookies related to fraud prevention and payment processing. These are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy .
4. How to Manage Cookies
4.1 Our Cookie Banner
When you first visit EKN Marketplace, a cookie banner will ask for your consent to analytics cookies. You can accept or decline. You can change your preference at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the footer.
4.2 Browser Settings
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will affect the functionality of the site (e.g. you may not be able to stay logged in or use the cart).
Instructions for common browsers:
